Field Explorer for Salesforce

Last updated: 7/4/2026

Field Explorer for Salesforce ("the Extension") is a browser extension that displays where Salesforce fields are used and lets users search org metadata, shown inline on Salesforce Lightning pages.

Data the Extension accesses

  • Salesforce session cookie: The Extension reads your existing Salesforce session cookie for the org you are actively viewing. It is used solely as an authentication token to make read-only calls to that same Salesforce org's APIs on your behalf. It is used in-memory only and is never stored, logged, or transmitted to any destination other than your Salesforce org.
  • Salesforce metadata and page content: To show where a field is used, the Extension reads field and metadata information from your Salesforce org and the page you are viewing. This information is displayed to you and is not retained after it is shown.

Where your data goes

All communication is directly between your browser and your Salesforce org. The Extension has no backend server. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, rent, transfer, or share any of your data or Salesforce information with us or any third party. There is no analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.

Data stored on your device

The only data the Extension stores is your own interface preferences (such as which categories to display and whether the overlay stays on), saved locally in your browser via Chrome's storage. This never leaves your device and contains no Salesforce data.

Read-only

The Extension only reads from Salesforce. It never creates, modifies, or deletes any data in your Salesforce org.
